Why You Should Travel Outside Your Country

Growing up in Iraq, I always dreamed of a day when I could travel freely without the need for a visa and the anxiety of possible rejection. When I moved to the USA 11 years ago, one of the first things I wanted to do was explore the world.

My first trip to Brazil was in 2017, and I still vividly recall feeling nervous about the country's safety after reading many articles on the subject.

My Brazil trip was a huge success, it is worth mentioning that my fiance used to live there and he knew some Portuguese which helped a bit

After my 2017 trip, I learned something very important: not to believe everything I read in the media.

While I don't want to downplay any safety issues that some cities may have, it's important to remember that, like any other big city in the world, you need to be careful, vigilant, and aware of where you are going.

Why Traveling is important for everyone?

Whether you're traveling within your own country or venturing to far-off destinations, the benefits of travel and exploration are countless.

You can’t live in a bubble and make assumptions about other places on this earth just by watching the news.

If you have the opportunity to travel outside of your country, don’t think about it, it is a life-changing experience in my opinion.

What Traveling made me learn about myself

  • Traveling has made me discover my love language which is exploring new countries and learning about other cultures.

  • Traveling boosts my confidence to land in a place where I don't know anyone, forcing me out of my comfort zone and into navigating a new city, from the airport to the transportation system.

  • While I don't expect to become fluent in a new language during my travels, I do make an effort to learn some words and phrases from the country I'm visiting out of respect. This allows me to communicate with locals and gain a deeper understanding of their culture.

  • I prefer to avoid resorts, cruises, or tours when I travel because I believe they take away from the beauty of interacting with locals and learning about their traditions. I love getting lost (safely) in new cities and sitting in a random coffee shop to observe locals.

  • Speaking of locals, the first thing I do when I visit a new city is to look at Local Markets and go there, I love to learn about what the country local produce and meet locals

  • I love nature, traveling made me appreciate the beauty of our earth and made me aware of the damage we are doing to our nature

Here are some of the travel Benefits

Travel exposes you to new cultures and ways of life.

When you visit a new place, you get to experience firsthand the customs, traditions, and values of the people who live there. This exposure can help you develop a greater appreciation for diversity and a better understanding of other people's perspectives. It can also challenge your preconceived notions and broaden your understanding of the world.

Traveling broadens your horizons.

Travel can also help you develop valuable life skills. Traveling requires planning, organization, and problem-solving skills. It can also help you become more adaptable and resilient, as you navigate new environments and unexpected challenges. These skills can translate to many areas of your life, from your personal relationships to your professional endeavors.

Travel can also be incredibly rewarding from a personal growth standpoint.

When you step outside of your comfort zone and explore new places, you push yourself to try new things and take risks. This can help you build confidence and self-esteem, as well as cultivate a sense of independence and self-sufficiency. Plus, travel can be a great way to recharge your batteries and find inspiration, whether you're trying to overcome a creative block or simply looking for a change of scenery.

Travel and exploration can simply be fun and fulfilling experiences.

There's nothing quite like the sense of adventure and excitement that comes with exploring a new place. Whether you're discovering a hidden gem in your own city or exploring a new country, travel can be an opportunity to create lasting memories and make meaningful connections with others.

In conclusion, travel and exploration are important for many reasons.
